Description

Savor this easy tuna melt, featuring creamy tuna salad, gooey cheddar cheese, and crispy bread—perfect for a quick lunch or snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) canned tuna, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (optional)
  • 4 slices bread (sourdough or whole grain)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped onion (if using), salt, and pepper until creamy yet chunky.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer half the cheese followed by a generous scoop of the tuna mixture. Top with remaining cheese and another slice of bread.
  5. Place the sandwich in the skillet with the buttered side down. Grill for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip.
  6. Grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes until browned and cheese is melted. Let rest before slicing.

Notes

  • Experiment with different cheeses like pepper jack for a spicy twist.
  •  Use whole grain bread for a healthier option.
  • Ensure your canned tuna is well-drained to avoid sogginess.
