Description

Experience the joy of homemade candy apples, featuring crisp apples enveloped in a sweet, shiny candy shell – perfect for celebrations and fall festivities!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 crisp apples (Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Optional: A few drops of food coloring
  • 6 popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks
  • Optional toppings: Crushed nuts or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by washing and drying the apples thoroughly. Gather all ingredients and tools.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until dissolved and bubbling.
  3. Monitor the temperature using a candy thermometer until it reaches 300°F (150°C).
  4. If desired, add food coloring when the mixture reaches temperature and swirl gently without stirring too vigorously.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes before dipping each apple into the syrup while turning to coat evenly.
  6. Place dipped apples on parchment paper until fully cooled and hardened.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to prevent the candy from sliding off.
  •  Customize your candy apples by adding spices like cinnamon to the coating or topping with chocolate drizzle.
