Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz canned whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Fresh basil and oregano to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs and place them on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  6. Pour in canned tomatoes and crush them as they cook down into a sauce.
  7. Once meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions; drain well.
  9. Serve spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try using ground turkey instead of beef or mix in chopped spinach for extra nutrition.
