Description

Enjoy a comforting shepherd’s pie filled with savory ground beef, fresh vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes—perfect for warming your heart and satisfying cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (about 4 large potatoes)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté onion in a drizzle of oil until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned (8–10 minutes), breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Stir in diced carrots and frozen peas. Drain excess fat from the meat, then add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened; season with salt and pepper.
  5. While the filling simmers, boil potatoes until fork-tender (15–20 minutes). Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour meat mixture into a baking dish and evenly top with mashed potatoes. Use a fork to create swirls.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with lentils or mushrooms.
  • Consider adding cheese on top for an extra creamy finish.
  • Season each layer individually to enhance flavors
