Ingredients

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup fresh lettuce, shredded
  • ½ cup sliced dill pickles
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Gather tools: skillet or griddle, spatula, mixing bowl, and measuring spoons.
  2. Preheat the skillet over medium-high heat until hot (but not smoking).
  3. In a mixing bowl, gently shape the ground beef into four loose balls (about 4 ounces each).
  4. Place each ball onto the hot skillet and smash down firmly with the spatula. Sear for about 3 minutes without moving.
  5. When juices begin to bubble on top, place cheese slices on patties and toast the brioche buns in another pan until golden brown.
  6. Remove patties from heat once cheese melts. Assemble by placing patties on toasted buns, adding lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
