  • 2 black tea bags (Assam or Darjeeling)
  • 2 whole cardamom pods
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cups whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Add the black tea bags, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and grated ginger. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  3. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Then add the milk and heat until steaming (about 5 minutes), without boiling.
  4. Strain the mixture into cups using a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove solids.
