Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Add eggs to the mixture and mix until a dough forms; be careful not to overmix.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  5. Press half of the dough into the prepared pan as a base layer. Spread the apple mixture over it and crumble the remaining dough on top.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
