Description

Bananas Foster Bread Pudding is a warm, comforting dessert that brings together sweet caramelized bananas and rich custard-soaked bread for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread, cubed (about 1 loaf)
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (for greasing)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cube the stale bread and place it in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth with some chunks remaining.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread and mashed bananas. Stir gently until combined.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use day-old bread to ensure good absorption of the custard mixture.
  •  To prevent browning, slice bananas just before mixing them in.
