Description

General Tso’s Chicken is a tantalizing sweet-and-spicy dish that will elevate your dinner experience. This easy recipe delivers bold flavors and crispy chicken, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 lb), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, and cornstarch. Marinate the chicken in this mixture for 15–30 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the marinated chicken until golden brown, about 6–8 minutes.
  4. Remove excess oil from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Stir in brown sugar and red pepper flakes until combined.
  5. Return the fried chicken to the skillet and add sesame oil. Toss until well-coated with sauce.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with tofu or shrimp.
  •  Add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for extra nutrition and crunch.
  •  Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat in a skillet to maintain crispiness.
