Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, chopped for garnish
- ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth (or water)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Slice the beef sirloin thinly against the grain and chop the broccoli into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, cornstarch, and black pepper. Marinate beef in this mixture for 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef in batches and cook until browned (about 3-4 minutes). Remove from pan.
- In the same pan, add broccoli with a splash of water and steam for about 3 minutes until bright green.
- Return the beef to the pan along with any marinade. Toss everything together until heated through.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute broccoli with snow peas or bell peppers for variety.
- For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
