Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Wash and pit the cherries, then set them aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, combine melted butter and milk. Gradually mix into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the greased dish, layer the cherries on top, and pour the remaining batter over the cherries.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes
