- 4 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until combined to form a shaggy dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, divide it into small pieces, roll into ropes, and tie into knots.
- Place knots on a greased baking sheet, brush with melted butter mixed with garlic and oregano. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan or red pepper flakes before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days; reheat at 350°F for five minutes.
