Description

Crispy fried mushrooms are a delightful, crunchy snack that brings out the earthy flavor of fresh mushrooms. Perfect for gatherings or solo indulgence, this recipe will leave everyone wanting more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying (enough to cover half of each mushroom cap)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the mushrooms, trimming tough stems for even frying.
  2. Set up a breading station with one bowl of seasoned flour, one with beaten eggs, and another filled with panko.
  3. Dip each mushroom in flour, shake off excess, coat in egg, and roll in panko until fully covered.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry the mushrooms in batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crisp; avoid overcrowding the pan.
  6. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil and season lightly with salt while hot.

Notes

  • Try adding garlic powder or fresh herbs to your flour for added flavor.
  • For a cheesy twist, sprinkle grated Parmesan over the finished mushrooms.
