Description

Delight in the comforting flavors of this All-American Apple Pie, featuring spiced apples nestled in a flaky, homemade crust. Perfect for any gathering or cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 5 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 68 tbsp ice water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Gradually add ice water, stirring gently until the dough forms. Wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in another bowl; let sit to absorb flavors.
  4. Roll out half of the chilled dough into a circle and fit it into your pie dish.
  5. Add apple filling on top and cover with another rolled-out dough piece; seal edges.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F for an additional 30-40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
