Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp cooking oil (vegetable or olive)
Instructions
- Season the chicken thighs with salt and black pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Coat each chicken piece in flour, then add to the skillet. Sear for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in dried thyme, then gradually pour in the chicken broth while scraping up any browned bits from the pan; simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Return the browned chicken to the skillet, cover, and simmer for an additional 20 minutes until cooked through.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider incorporating spices such as paprika or adding vegetables like carrots during cooking.
- If you prefer a thicker gravy, whisk together a mixture of flour and water before adding it to the sauce.
