Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups egg noodles or rice, cooked as per package instructions
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the seasoned beef and cook until browned on all sides (about 4 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until the onions are translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until tender and golden brown (approximately 5-7 minutes).
- Sprinkle flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir until coated. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously until smooth.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, return the beef to the skillet, and stir in the sour cream. Simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until heated through.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, topped with additional sauce.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
- Experiment with adding fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for an extra flavor boost.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat gently with a splash of broth.
