Description

Experience the ultimate comfort food with this creamy beef stroganoff, featuring tender beef and earthy mushrooms, perfect for cozy dinners that warm the soul.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups egg noodles or rice, cooked as per package instructions

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the seasoned beef and cook until browned on all sides (about 4 minutes). Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until the onions are translucent (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook until tender and golden brown (approximately 5-7 minutes).
  4. Sprinkle flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir until coated. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously until smooth.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, return the beef to the skillet, and stir in the sour cream. Simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until heated through.
  6. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, topped with additional sauce.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt.
  •  Experiment with adding fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for an extra flavor boost.
  •  Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat gently with a splash of broth.
