- 12 oz ziti pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Cook the ziti pasta until al dente (8-10 minutes), then drain and reserve some pasta water.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked pasta with marinara sauce, ricotta, half of the mozzarella, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Layer half of the pasta mixture in the baking dish; add half of the remaining mozzarella on top. Pour in the rest of the pasta mixture and finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute cheeses or add vegetables such as spinach or mushrooms for added flavor.
- Baked Ziti can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated overnight.
